associative property

This states that when you add or multiply, you can group numbers in any combination.
(a + b) + c = a + (b + c)

m * (n * p) = (m * n) * p

For example:
(2 + 3) + 4 = 2 + (3 + 4)
Another example:
2 * (3 * 4) = (2 * 3) * 4
